Target Blue Eye

Next generation safety system detects (unmarked) emergency vehicles even better

TRACK Technologies introduces the new Blu Eye 2: a next generation safety system for drivers. Just like the original Blu Eye, Blu Eye 2 warns you when emergency vehicles are approaching — even if they are not using sirens or flashing lights. Only now it’s faster, smarter and more accurate than ever.

By using signals from the government communication system C2000 (TETRA), Blu Eye 2 detects police vehicles (including unmarked units), ambulances and fire trucks in the vicinity of your car. You are then alerted through visual and audible warnings, allowing you to react immediately.

Blu Eye 2 not only improves road safety for all road users, but also helps you stay extra alert in situations where fast response is essential. It gives you an extra set of eyes in front of you and behind you — and it is completely legal.

What’s new about Blu Eye 2?

Nearly ten years after its introduction, the first generation Blu Eye has proven itself to thousands of users at home and abroad as a reliable road safety system that warns drivers about approaching emergency vehicles. With all the knowledge and experience gained over the years, TRACK Technologies has developed the new Blu Eye 2, available from now on.

1) More channels (more powerful platform)

Blu Eye 2 is built on a much more powerful platform than its predecessor.
Where the first generation Blu Eye receives 200 low TETRA/C2000 channels, Blu Eye 2 can now also receive 600 high TETRA/C2000 channels, which have recently been introduced across the EU.

2) Two display options

With Blu Eye 2 you can choose between two display types:

  • a specially designed LED display for the rear-view mirror

  • a 2.4 inch LCD screen, which can be mounted in or on the dashboard

3) Up to three emergency services displayed at once

Both displays can now show up to three emergency services at the same time.
Useful when you think one merging ambulance is the reason for the alert, but the display shows there is another emergency vehicle nearby as well.

How does Target Blu Eye 2 work?

Across almost all of Europe, emergency services (ambulance, fire brigade and police) use a digital communication system. In the Netherlands, this system is known as C2000 and is based on the global TETRA standard.

When an emergency service vehicle is registered on the network, its communication equipment sends an ultra-short synchronisation signal every few seconds. Blu Eye 2 detects this signal and converts it into an audible and visual warning inside your car.

Detection range varies from several hundred metres up to around 1 kilometre, giving you plenty of time to:

  • make way safely

  • reduce your speed

  • react earlier and more responsibly
